I can't hardly believe it's off still, and it's been off since about 2:00 P.M this afternoon. Right now my baby girl is all snuggled in her bed, comfy for the first time in 9 1/2 weeks, she's sleeping beautifully!
Daddy took her cast off with Fat Max, not to confused with a fat man, named Max.
But our tin snips that is, and here he is - Our son, (4) wanted to name the snips this. We all like the name and look it even says it's HIS name LOL. So Fat Max is now an important part of our family.
We filmed our first removal to educate and share with family.
You'll have to excuse her crying, as she was scared. I will be uploading those video's as soon as I can. You will find them under Video's of Kaitlyn here on the site.
After her cast was removed she just smiled and looked a little confused. She was very itchy and she rubbed all over her belly and sides.
She took off walking and almost running afterwards. Which is a big deal for Kaity, it's not easy hauling all the extra weight while walking. She was so amazing today. It must have been odd to re-adjust to having a cast not on. She must have felt as light as a feather and "free" . She's been smiling all day, we all have.
When her cast came off, I was first struck by how her little rib hump went down dramatically. This is a good sign that she has gotten good correction already!
You can still see her curve, when you look at her back. But that's ok, we knew that it would take more than just one cast. But to have the rib hump nearly gone, is amazing!! WOOHOO!! I am SO hopeful that we will get great news on the 23rd!
I just cried and cried as I held her in my arms, and felt her skin against mine again. Yes, you can still hug her while she's in her cast, but it just isn't the same.
Nothing can compare to "feeling" hugs, skin against skin. It's not to fun hugging plaster. She has been soaking up all the attention and love, you can tell that she's missed "real" hugs, just as much as we have.
Isaac, her brother, was just amazing as we removed the cast. He helped mama take off her tape and reassured her all the way as he held onto her little hand.
I was so proud of him today, what a little man he was. He is SO thrilled to have his sissy back to her old self. :)
Kaity has been walking and running "free" all day long, and it's the most beautiful site I've seen in a long time. She enjoyed a cupcake with Isaac and got all messy and then had a 45min Bubble bath, and then took a wonderful nap.
This day couldn't have gone better, I am so blessed.
This week is going to be a fun one, for all of us.
Please continue to pray for Kaity, as she has a little cold, and needs to get rid of it before the 23rd of this month. That is when she will have her 2nd cast applied.
Thanks everyone and God
