But, also comes the germs, the coughing and sneezing and sinus problems too. For anyone going through Scoliosis casting, this is a big obstacle to get past. I've always said there is no perfect time of the year for casting, Summer is way to hot, Fall begins the sickies, Winter is miserable, .. spring seems to be the only half decent season for these little casters.
I'm already trying to get on the ball with being proactive with Kaitlyns health this year.
Last year was a horrible time for Kaity, she was sick a lot and just caught everything from everyone.
I have more work this year, with Isaac in school full time.
He is around germs 24/7 now and can and will bring all sorts of germs home with him.
I give Isaac and Kaitlyn two vitamins daily, that contains Vitamin C, Zinc and Echinacea.
This helps greatly in supporting their young immune systems.
We also drink a lot of all natural oragne juice, another fighter against colds ect.
I am sort of becoming a germ O' fobe... I have to be.
Kaitlyn cannot go under anesthesia for her casts, if she has even a mild cold.
So you can see, where fall, winter and any germs are a nightmare for her Scoliosis treatment.
Right now Isaac is fighting a pretty bad cold, and I am keeping him as far away from little sister
as possible. I have a HUGE bottle of Clorox Wipes sitting in my living room and giant
bottle of hand sanitizer.. and of course there is their breathing treatments.
Kaitlyn has just gotten over her cold, from last week.
All in all she seems healthy and very energetic :) yae!
I called Shriners yesterday to let them know that she has a small amount of nasel drainage leftover.
The Pediatrician there told us that we should consider rescheduling because she's getting over a cold.
I had posted to FB that we wouldn't be going.
But the more I thought about it, the more I did not agree with their choice.
I told them she is fever, congestion, and cough free (so what's the problem?!) but, they air on the side
of extreme safety (we all know that $$ is an issue, and they don't want to be sued).
I understand that and can even appreciate that.. but if my daughter is not sick.. I am not going stand
for the "side of safety"... so that she can get even further behind in the casting then she already is.
Sometimes you just can't take "NO" for answer or even "lets just wait and see".
My daughters spine is far to important!
I am a huge avocate for my daughter, I'm her only voice and sometimes a Mother just flat out knows
their child best.
This morning we took her to her Ped. and had him check her over throughly and he said that she
is healthy and that there should be no problems with getting cast ect.
Mama knows best!
Our Ped. faxed his OK over to Shriners this morning and I have left a message..
we are awaiting the call back that they got the fax.
So all in all, we should be going to Chicago as planned..
but we need to hear back from Shriners first.. today!
I will be posting her CAST OFF pics as soon as I can..
I am sorry for not updating her blog/site latley.
As I am very "preggo" sick latley and with all the unpacking of our new house still to do!
Please pray for Kaitlyn, David and I as we still may be going to Chicago this Sunday.
As well as Kaityln ... that she'll have the grace to accept another cast and that her numbers will be good!
And for little Isaac, that he'll get over his cold asap :)
thank you to all my praying friends.. you mean everything to us!
God bless
